Poet Hamish MacDonald will appear at Argonaut Books in Edinburgh on 15th August 2022 to read from his poetry collection 'Wilson's Ornithology and Burds in Scots'.

We are delighted to announce that Hamish MacDonald, author of bestselling poetry collection Wilson's Ornithology and Burds in Scots, will be appearing at Argonaut Books this summer!

Join us for an evening of poetry, birdsong and (free) drinks on the 15th August at 7.00pm. Hamish will be performing some of his poems, which have reinvigorated the work of Alexander Wilson (1766-1813) and his fantastic ornithological illustrations, allowing them to soar into the 21st century and beyond.

This event is free but you are advised to register to secure your place. Free wine and refreshments will also be on offer to attendees.

Praise for Wilson's Ornithology and Burds in Scots:

"Wilson's studies were made with skill and love for his subjects. Now Hamish MacDonald has brought together a selection in an attractive book..." Times Literary Supplement

"A gorgeous new wee book which features stunning illustrations of bird life alongside Hamish's poems..." Janice Forsyth, The Afternoon Show, BBC Radio Scotland
